Courses>Calligraphy
Practical and clear demonstrations of letter formation. Individual tuition with students working at their own pace in a relaxed and fun group atmosphere. Looking at several alphabets including: The Foundational Hand, Italic, Uncial and Half Uncial , Gothic Blackletter, Gothic Cursive, Versals and Lombardic Versals.
Students are taught to handle various equipment used in calligraphy. High quality worksheets are provided for home use. There will be many opportunities to be creative with projects during the course.
Courses>Beginners Art Course
A broad and stimulating course that helps students learn to see and respond to the world around them. Enjoy and explore the basic building blocks in art including; line and tone, shape and form, colour theory, texture, perspective and composition. Dedicated sessions to try out different media and learn to experiment with them. This starter course can lead on to more specific projects looking at the improvement of art techniques.

Courses>Exploring Ideas in Art
An exciting opportunity to look in new ways at subjects such as flowers, landscape and self-portrait as well as modern art movements (such as Pop Art). All practical subjects are explored with reference to other well-known artists, linking art activities with art history. Students are given the space to work at his or her own pace, working in a figurative or a more abstract way.
Courses>Portrait Course
The ability to capture a likeness is a wonderful skill to acquire. Initially the course concentrates on learning the basics of drawing and painting a portrait. Tuition is then given on the following areas; Shape and form of the head and shoulders, Perspective, Specific concentration on features and expression, Composition, Colour washes, Painting impasto, and Portrait as story. Students will experiment with 5 and 10-minute sketches, then moving on to longer poses. Later, more variety is introduced, including the place of clothing in a picture and whole figure portraiture. Students will discuss ideas and collaborate on the choice of poses. Each week examples of work and different styles from other well-known artists is referred to.
