There are still some places for the day schools this term. These are being run at the Sydni Centre in Leamington Spa, on the 8 th February and 15 th March 08. The first is an ‘Introduction to Calligraphy' and the second, ‘Italic and Inspiration'. Please contact me for further details.

I am currently running a calligraphy course through Southam college, near Leamington Spa. Last Autumn I ran a drawing course through St. John's museum in Warwick. This was great fun, since students were able to draw museum objects! I am planning to run some more drawing courses there this summer.

Not only have I worked with adults this year but also children. I did a project in conjunction with the education psychology department at Clapham Terrace School last summer. Helen Dumont from ‘Treasure Project' and myself worked with ten children to develop their emotional well being. This was an opportunity for children to explore their feelings through art. I really enjoyed this and it was extremely rewarding.

I have also had my first attempt at working in a secondary school in Atherstone. I was asked to run a session on calligraphy for year 8 children. I was nervous at first, thinking that teenagers would somehow eat me alive! However, I really enjoyed this time, and it was great working with 13 year olds.

News Update January 16, 2008

It has been a while since I have updated the website. I have been very busy this last year running various courses and projects.

I am now teaching through Warwick University Open Studies, Life long learning department. Last term I ran a drawing course and this term I am running a painting course. This is also held at the Percival guildhouse. The students have produced some good work as you can see with the examples below.

Teaching

I am still working at the Percival Guildhouse in Rugby, running an improver’s calligraphy course on Thursday mornings and a beginners course in the afternoon. I still have my many regulars. I am branching out and learning and teaching copperplate calligraphy. This is great although very time consuming.

Exhibition

Well with all of this teaching I have had little time to produce much work! I am trying to be creative again, looking for new inspiration. My aim is to do Warwickshire Arts Week this year, preferably in my own home. The week is between 5th and 16th July (well more than a week). I am currently thinking about the logistics of this so watch this space!!
