Church/Spirituality Workshops

Artistic expression can be a window into the soul. It is also true that the Visual Arts can play an important role in the life of faith communities. Beginning from her own Christian faith, Lindsey employs artwork to develop the spiritual awareness and insights of others. Carefully led creativity workshops give a special opportunity to express a person’s deepest self, exploring the spiritual aspects of life in new ways through artwork.

The following courses are just three examples of opportunities for people to take time out of their normal busy routines and begin to explore and play through art:

>>‘Encountering God through Art’

This is a fun day for people of all abilities. It is a chance to play and be creative within a friendly and warm atmosphere. People are invited to develop their visual awareness as a fresh way of hearing God and seeing God. Lindsey Attwood uses her own and other artists work as an inspiration and starting point for the day. There is space given for personal reflection, spiritual listening and sensing, and an opportunity to worship God through personal artwork. Lots of materials are provided including collage, wire and paint, so that every person can find expression in a way that suits them.

>> ‘Using Words in Art’

This is a creative day where people can learn a little bit of calligraphy and use it in a creative way to express their heart to God. This is a day for people of all abilities. You will be able to work at your own level in a warm and encouraging environment. Lindsey starts the day with examples of inspirational texts and beautiful writing from the past, and then leads people into their own creative response through their carefully chosen words. People will need to bring some form of calligraphy pen (although some will be provided). Other materials are provided, such as paint, and collage materials.

>>‘Glimpses of Heaven’

Taking up the theme of Lindsey’s Coventry Cathedral Exhibition, this inspiring day workshop provides an occasion to re-imagine what we think about heaven, both here and beyond death. Lindsey uses her own work and the work of others to stimulate imagination, and then facilitates personal work to build a picture of what heaven means to us. This relaxed day can provide hope and strength, reinvigorating our sense of that spiritual realm we call heaven.
